New York City Waterfalls:
The East River became a small Niagara, huge waterfalls were constructed under the Brooklyn’s bridge. As every waterfall in the world they are a construction…neture is indeed a construction.
Your mobile expectations
Based on the BMW H2R hydrogen-powered race car, Eliasson remove the removed the car’s body and replaced it with an ice-covered carapace.
On this piece of art he said:
“Traditional car design has defined the car as a desirable object, a fetish almost, and a commodity, depriving it of its relationship to its surroundings and to time. Car design has primarily focused on the most profitable way of facilitating and mediating physical movement. We have to challenge this, and I think the task is to reintroduce time as the key producer of our experiences. Reality then becomes temporal reality. This reintroduction will give us the possibility to perceive the car and the consequences of driving in relation to our own bodies.”

I really love the idea of the New York waterfalls, because it is, in some way reflecting the city. I percieve this waterfalls, as futuristic waterfalls. Not only because they are not natural, but because they have this design of a construction, just like all the constructions that New York city owns. i think this reminds us of what the city is made of. -Xochitl Salazar

ResponderEliminarthe New York waterfalls do not like me alot because i think the structure look ugry but the picture that is in the night look very good with the light and we can not see the structurea and mixed with all the other lights of the city.
the picture of the BMW is amazing because no all the people have crazy ideas to do it, they just think to do it more sofisticate, and better than other cars. is not someting common to see.
So well, first of all the first image about the sun was really nice i mean it is pretty amazing too. It is nice too because photos like that one "hacen que la naturaleza se vean en todo su esplendor!" and most of all in that picture you can see how amazing things you see daily are so stunning.

But well the image i loved the most was the first one, cuz with that image i reay said... "woow so wonderul and awesome things around us that really seem ordinary for us, but that is real art and we don't even notice!
I like the 3 pictures, they are amazing, and I realized that the author made a connection between the nature and the technology. This connection makes me think what important is the nature, and how the human being has forget about the nature, and puts all his attention in the material world
ResponderEliminarIn the first picture I was surprise because he just shows what happened in the nature every day.
The second picture was my favorite, because he mix the nature with a building (again the conection between nature&technology), the picture make me realize that you don’t need to go to the forest and places like that to see nature, nature is everywhere but we need to open our eyes.
And the third one was amazing, how he demonstrates that the materialism is part of our life, and we don’t anything to change it.
I think that this artist is able to demonstrate that art can be everywhere, it can come from natural phenomena like the sunset, it can come from man made things like the car and it can even be a mixture of both things like the waterfalls which combine the natural elements of the river and the man made structure of the bridge to create something beautiful. I think this artist also shows us how we can find art all around us and many of us don't appreciate it, like the sunset.
ResponderEliminarI like the first photo beacause I like the images that shows how amazing nature is. I really love to see how nature is. But I think that sometimes we don´t see what we have and we don´t apreciate nature and all that it have to offer to us. Nowdays people in the world are affecting our planet and our ecosystem and I think that some of this amazing things, that only nature can show us, are going to disapear.

One thing that I love of the last picture is that he shows to have a lot of imagination and that´s the thing that I most apreciate of an artist, Their imagination and creativity.
I saw other images of this artist and are amazing! I think that he thinks that all the things in nature and what we do with them are beautiful and unique and he want the world to see what we have.
just a little comment...IT IS NO T THE SUN..it is a great lamp, wich "makes" an artificial sun inside a museum.

well I think all of thise types of art have somenthing in common they are realy nice and realy expencive things so I thing is how art and nature internact in such a way that it looks good and int helps nature to grow winth out herting it but not youst withaut herting nim alsow helping it by modifing some of the important structures of the world and desing them for help nature and that is something relly good because if we are finishing with nature I think we need to do something like art for helpin it and fore let us know how art could be healthy for nature
ResponderEliminarI think that this is the kind of art that I really like the most, not like old paintings or sculptures. This kind of art is one of the most original and creative, that is the way people should try to make some art, doing original stuff, something nobody has ever created. And this is the kind of art that must be in museums, something you can interact with, something that is not boring and you really like, not only that boring paintings that are 50 years old. Even though many people like to pay a lot of money and admire these old paintings and sculptures, I think that most of the people who like art, really likes these new and creative stuff. ResponderEliminarWell I realice that i like alot the nature arts (, for me its is amazing to see alot of natural scenery and the nature is something important to remind , beacuse we forget about it )= , and we destroy and trade her bad all the time, whe her gave´´s us the live , we cant live wihtout water , plant´s , ground etcc.. And that is teh reason why i like it so much =D

ResponderEliminarMe parece algo realmente nuevo esto de mezclar arte con tecnología realmente es algo nuevo pero no novedoso en mi opinión, bueno a que me refiero?: a que realmente hoy en día con el mundo de la tecnología el hombre a intentado mezclar en todo lo posible la tecnología, no solo en áreas científicas sino en deportes, transporte, comunicación, y ahora incluso arte pero no me confunda no estoy criticándola mas bien al contrario creo que quedo bien esta combinación y realmente los cuadros se ven bien en especial el de la capota blanca con brillos por dentro ese me llamo mucho la atención, con lo de novedoso solo decía que era algo de tiempo en que combinaran estas 2 áreas

I think that all the pictures are really cool and more the first one because you see and you think that is a beautiful sunset but no! thats the amazing thing of this author that it creates images and makes you believe in what you are looking. All this of the interaction of nature and technology its really interesting and original and it gives you a new perspective of art =)

ResponderEliminarWell, I think that it is a very good and original idea and the art that Olafur Eliasson make, because the nature is beautiful and with his imagination he can do like "the sun" with a light and it seems real. The waterfalls are very beautiful and i like them more at night because I love the lights of colors at night, they look better and the light gives them more style, so I think they look awesome. And the pictures about the car, this is very original and in this picture the light and the fallen sticks that look like they are made of melted wax also gives it a great effect. I love this kind of art because it is very original and modern.
ResponderEliminarfirst i think these 3 pictures are amazing in many ways, but the ones thta i like better is the second one of the new york city waterfalls, i think the waterfallas will give more beauty to the brooklyn bridge because personally i think the brooklyn bridge is not really cool, and imagine your are walking in that bridge and you saw this waterfallas it will be beautifull and amazing.
ResponderEliminarThe picture of the sun likes me a lort, because the sun is our source of life, and in a picture like that you start to imagine a lot of things about sun. The picture about the bmw i think is just a way to spend the money in something that is not usefull, it is very originla and it looks grate but i dont think its a good way to see art.
In my opinion, this is a kind of art that is very interesting because is a beautiful combination of art and actual technology and now it can make natural environments artificially, the one I liked the most was the waterfalls in NY I think that it looks awesome beneath all the city in night, also I think it should be more projects like that. The artificial sun looks very cool but I think you can appreciate more that in person not in an image.
ResponderEliminarI think the pictures are realy cool except for the BMW one, i didn't like that one...anyways the pictures showed to me how we humans have always seen nature as something beautiul and that we have been slowly destroying, the convinatiion of the technology and nature things are besides beautiful things that can make people concious, to make them see that something that beautiful is about to dissapear because of our fault, and from my point of wiew is the greatest art ever created...that's the message i got from the pictures, i don't know if my interpretation is wrong but that's what i understood.

ResponderEliminarWell i like the last one better, I mean they are all great, Elliason does a good job blending manmade artifacts and nature, buy what really got from the last one was that it was so ellaborate and so detailed that I got lost into it just from watching it and the light he used just gave it a surreal effect that took it closer to perfection.
ResponderEliminarI liked Weather Project because it looks like an indoor sun and I also read that during the day something similar to fog is accumulating until it forms some kind of clouds and that the ceiling is a huge mirror, I think that he created an indoor environment that I would really like to see beacause it looks real, so real that my classmates and I first thought it was the real sun when it is an exposition inside a museum. It makes you think about a beautiful sunset and it must feel like you are watching the sunset for real. About the New York City Waterfalls I just liked how they look at night, because with the ilumination it looks beautiful and it must be amazing seeing them when you cross under the brooklyn bridge in a boat but I didn't like how the waterfalls look in the day beacause you can see the structure of it and it looks really artificial and I don't feel like it is connected or related with nature. And the last picture and don't really get the idea of why he did that and why he based on that car, personally I don't like that one because I don't find a reason of covering a car with ice. I don't understand why a car covered with ice is technological and natural, but I think that the only natural thing that it has is that the ice is water and water is natural unless that's the reason of the technolgy and nature connection I dind't understand the concept.

Well, the 3 pictures are amazing because now a days some people make beside the nature and be more intrested in the technology so this artist make the perfect combination between nature & technology. So I think that with this combination we can like relax at the same time we realize that the nature is around us and still amzing us and with the creativity, imagination the result will be a pretty art that maybe we never imagine to see, make, etc.
ResponderEliminarLike the big lamp that gave the illusion of the sun, the waterfall must of us never imagine that with a structue we can do a waterfall. And finishing with the BMW left me speechless because it looks like ice and wax and the light of the car, really was like wuooo terrific.
I really liked the pictures of New York City Waterfalls, the reson is because i like how they can mix tecnology with architecture and make a beatuful landscape, in a big city. In the New York City Waterfalls pictures the author he handles very well the light, and you can appreciate all details. In the first pictur i really thout that it was the sun, but it isnt that why it is special, because it is something else that lookes a like.I dint like the last ones because i dint see the sense, but i liked the car.
ResponderEliminarI really liked all 3 of the Olafur Eliasson arts but what I really like of them is how Eliason uses both natural and modern things. In the first one I like how he uses the light and the shadow (people and buildings) like a concept and it makes me wonder of what size the people where? or how big the light was? or how he took a small thing and enlarged it? In the second I liked it because it uses 2 iconic places and bonds them. The third one is the one I really loved, I just love the final product, how the ice looks and its patern and texture.

The London one was pretty impresive, the waterfall wasn't so awesome, but definitly the number one goes for the ice car, that was an amazing kind of sculpture I believed. ResponderEliminarWell, It's very amazing how nowadays the artists in this case Eliasson can combine nature with technology to make art, the creativity he used to make it is very impressive, I love the idea of reflecting the nature in the art because in these days there's a lot more of population and cities and the nature is being destroyed by us and for some reason he's trying to open our eyes in some way, he's trying to tell us "look what you're killing, can't you see the beauty of nature?". I think it is a way for us to appreciate the nature so much more and how the art involves it.

ResponderEliminarWell, i at first i thought that it was a great photograph collection, not my favorite, but nice. I like bitter colors and a scene that really tells me something, this sculptures and art projects gave me no greater felling whatsoever, maybe it's because this kind of art it's exploded all over the media, maybe it's because i'm not easily impressed, i don't know.
ResponderEliminarThen i read it's justification and it just blew my mind. No, i really don't like the things it said, it felt like the "Hipster" way of seeing things, that everything Mainstream is bad and other things that resemble that kind of thoughts are wrong to, it's nice to make something different, but telling it's because you do it to be a rebel to the mainstream society just seems, and please do not feel offended, dumb to me, but that's just my way of seeing things, i know that i'm often wrong, but these are my beliefs and principles and i got to stick with them.
But getting pass my critical point of view, those are really good projects and photographs.
Well, its obvious that techonlogy is huge nowadays and that humans grow along with it. I think the mix between man, nature, and technology is intresting and modern and that it show how this three elements bond and interact in beautiful ways, and that technology CAN be cinsidered art too. Its not paintings and antique techniques, it is high definition photography that represents how much we have evolved and art is evolving too.

ResponderEliminarI believe that the idea of Olafur Eliasson is a good one, because with man made objects he tries to imitate or show how beautiful objects in nature are. I liked the imitation of the sun the most because it really does seem like the sun. In the other hand, I didnt really like the waterfall because, in the contary, it doesnt look real and I cant really see what he wants to transmit with it, or it may just be that for some people it really looks nice. I liked how it looks at night though. About the car, I find it quite great to see how it tries to tell us that using it is just like using our body; if we want to drive a car we must see it as if we were driving ourselves, because its actually us who are driving the car. And the last image I didnt really understand what it meant but it really shows how time was invested in doing it and it was worthwhile because it looks really great.
Well all of the pictures are really interesting and original. My favorite one was the BMW images because I like those types of cars and it is amazing how the art can change in a good and original way all the things we know. The rest of the images were also fantastic! I can see that art is a very different way to express in all aspects of life
